Smarty's Nursery aims to provide a full balanced curriculum. Our aim is to offer children the opportunties to experiment, explore and investigate using a wide range of the latest resources available. We believe children learn and develop when they feel safe, secure and happy. All our resources are stored in child friendly storage units and children are encouraged to self select the activities they choose.
Curriculum: By following The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, ensures we at Smarty's Nursery cover all the areas of learning which is a requirement of Ofsted. By learning through play, children cover the 6 areas of learning which are; Language, Literacy and Communication, Numeracy, Reasoning and Problem Solving, Knowledge and Understanding of the World, Personal Social and Emotional development. Planning is done on a weekly basis in which all members of staff are involved. Every child has an individual learning plan and along with the observations of all children, each of these areas are covered regularly.
Other activities: Cooking, Computing, Gardening, Sand.

Strong observations:
Observing and recording children is vital in us achieving our aim to provide the highest quality pre school education. Observing children regularly ensures all children are given the opportunities to use all the resorces available to them. Children develop best when they are in a fun but stimulating environment and observing them, means we are achieving
this at all times.

Nursery staff: To ensure a smooth transition for children from being at home with parents to attending school, all our staff are highly trained in handling the needs of small children. Staff constantly encourage and praise the children whilst allowing them to move forward at their own pace. A key person system is used at Smarty's Nursery. This means that each qualified member of staff has a small group of children for whom they are responsible for. The key person works closely with the parents/carers to ensure they are satisfied at all times with what Smarty's is providing for their child. The key person ensures that your child's needs and interests are met so your child benefits from all the nursery's activities.
Partnership with Parents: Smarty's Nursery believes parents are their child's first educators. Parents are encouraged to provide us with the information about their child to ensure we provide the best care so they can learn and develop. Parents/carers provide us with a wealth of experiences and they are encouraged to come in and talk to the children about their jobs, cultures or any other experiences they feel children will enjoy and learn from. Smarty's Nursery adopts an open door policy for parents and will always make time to listen to any concerns a parent may have.
Helping hands: Parents are always welcome to come in and help with jobs such as washing up or cutting up collage material. This enables the qualified practitioners the time they require with the children to provide a fun filled balanced curriculum. However this is only possible when those parents have undergone the relevant CRB check. Parents are encoraged to bring anything into the nursery that they feel the children would enjoy such as old birthday cards and magazines for the children to cut.
21st Century Phsysical Development Fun Room: This innovative fun room has been designed to capture your child's imagination. It is a large safe, secure and spacious area for your child to develop their fine and gross motor skills.
Activities available: Climbing frame, tent and tunnel, trampoline, ball pond and a band area containing a keyboard, microphone, drums and guitar.
